A Moving Miracle

A couple of nights ago Jed had to work late at the lab so I brought him dinner, and that is when the moving miracle happened. We were sitting outside when a truck drove by with the entire back of the pickup full of empty boxes. We of course ran after the truck so that we could ask the driver what he planned on doing with all those wonderful boxes. When he replied that the boxes were meant for the trash we volunteered to take those boxes off his hands. And there they are for us to use ... aren't they lovely (and free - it's mostly the free part that makes them lovely).

Where's the Frosting?

I had a fabulous birthday on Sunday with one minor hiccup: the cake. I had explained to Jed previously that having a birthday cake was important to me so he dutifully went out Saturday and bought a box-cake to make the next day. But when he went to open the box on my birthday he said, “where’s the frosting?” Jed had thought that the frosting was included in the cake box! The good news is I finally got my cake last night and it was delicious … the even better news is that I got to claim that it was my birthday for three days since I still hadn’t had my cake!

Happy (belated) 4th of July

We had a fabulous fourth of July that was just missing one thing: fireworks!

We went down to Jed’s parents’ on Friday and went on a 4 wheel ride in the mountains, which was beautiful. I of course forgot our camera, but with me that really has to be expected. Than on the 4th Jed played in a basketball tournament (they sadly lost) and we spent most of the day at the park (again no camera). It was a gorgeous day until about 8:30 when it started storming – a lot. There was thunder and lighting – the whole shebang. Because of this there were no fireworks to be seen, but at least we had a nice start to the day. Next year they should have an extra good show with all the fireworks they saved this year!

Bliss

Mmmm! So Jed’s parents’ neighbor has a cherry tree that hangs onto Jed’s parents’ yard, which means that they get to pick cherries from half of the tree, which means yummy cherries for us! We picked so many that our entire counter was consumed by cherries. We now have about 7 bags full of them in our freezer as well as a giant bowl in our fridge. Ah … bliss!
