James's First Haircut

Even though James was only 3 months, in March we decided it was time to give his hair a little trim because he was starting to get a bit of a mullet in the back and the sides were getting a little out of control. During this experience I discovered that I am horrible at cutting hair. Jed took over halfway through and did a better job, but I don't think either of us will be opening a barbershop anytime soon.

James at 3 Months

James at 3 Months - February 28, 2013 (I guess this is 3 months since there is no 30th of February)

Our sweet baby James is 3 months old and getting to be more fun all the time. James is currently 13 lbs 8 oz which puts in the the 40th percentile according to the WHO and the 73rd percentile for the CDC (isn't it crazy how different the charts are). At 3 months he smiles like crazy but rarely for the camera. He is becoming more vocal - so far his favorite sounds are "gee" and "a goo." He has also started laughing with a breathy giggle that is so cute.

He's getting better and better at holding his head up even if he does vehemently protest after a couple minutes of tummy time. And 4 days ago he learned a new trick when he rolled from his tummy to his back. Apparently he's not sure how he feels about rolling over though because he has declined to repeat his performance.

James absolutely loves to look in mirrors and make faces at himself. He is also a big fan of The Wheels on the Bus, The Itsy Bitsy Spider and other silly songs. He giggles whenever you play This Little Piggy with him, and is oddly fond of having his diaper changed. He enjoys his nice, warm nightly bath, but sadly is sill not the biggest fan of going to sleep.

We love our little Jamesy Boy!

For comparison below is James a 1 month and at 2 months; I can't believe how much he has grown.

Pictures of the Day to Day

Lately our days have been full of baby. Changing baby, feeding baby, playing with baby, trying desperately to get baby to sleep, etc ... and it has been wonderful. Here is a little picture sampling of our goings on lately.

Lots of Snuggles
Tummy Time
Playing in the Baby Gym
Trying to Keep this Handsome Pup Spoiled so He Doesn't Think We Forgot About Him
And of Course Giving Little James Tons of Kisses!

James Royce

2 months ago I had a baby. I haven't posted about it yet because babies are a lot of work. Luckily he is also adorable.

As you probably guessed from the post title we've named him James Royce. Jed and I are completely in love with this little bean.

36 Weeks

November 13, 2012 - 36 Weeks 5 Days
Ok so I'm almost 37 weeks now, but I did fill out my survey at the 36 week mark I just never got it posted because I was slacking on taking a picture. But this is still technically during the 36th week so I think it still counts as on time.

How far along?  36 weeks
Total weight gain/loss:  33 pounds – hopefully I’m about done gaining weight because I’ve just about reached the limit of what I’m “supposed” to gain
Maternity clothes?  Always
Stretch marks?  Still no – cross your fingers for me
Sleep:  Actually I feel like I’ve been sleeping a little better than I was before – I still wake up several times a night but I’m getting back to sleep faster
Best moment this month: Getting some last minute travel in before baby
Movement: My goodness yes: this is a very active baby
Food cravings: Still just always hungry
Gender: Boy
Labor Signs: I have Braxton hicks contractions sporadically throughout the day but nothing to indicate delivery day is coming anytime soon
Belly Button in or out? Flat with a little poking out
Wedding rings on or off? On
What I miss: The ability to bend over
What I am looking forward to: My baby shower, it should be tons of fun (this actually took place last night and was lots of fun), and still getting the nursery done (procrastinating much)
Milestones: In just one week this baby will be considered full term – that is pretty crazy!

BYU v Notre Dame

This last weekend Jed and I got to take a fun day trip up to South Bend Indiana to see BYU play Notre Dame. It was a very long day what with driving up, checking out Notre Dame's campus, watching the game, and then driving home all in one day, but it was super fun. Notre Dame's campus was beautiful, the weather was great, and it was a good football game even if BYU couldn't manage a win in the end. I will admit that it was an uncomfortable day for this pregnant lady, but what can you do - I would have been uncomfortable sitting at home too, so I might as well do fun stuff while I still can. This next weekend we're taking our last pre-baby trip and going down to Georgia with some friends for, what else ... the BYU v Georgia Tech game. It should be a ton of fun!

In front of the famous golden dome

Here we are with touchdown Jesus

At the game! (Yeah are seats were super high, but Notre Dame isn't exactly known for their cheap tickets)

Wedding Weekend

Last weekend I was lucky enough to be able to go to Georgia and attend the wedding of my friend Sarah. After a flight down to Atlanta I drove to Savannah for the wedding with my good friend Beth, and luckily good friends always make long drives much more bearable. After a fun afternoon in Savannah with Beth, her brother Bob and his wife, and my friend Lindsey and her husband Peter it was wedding time!  The wedding was absolutely beautiful and it was so much fun to catch up with friends from high school that I hadn't seen in forever. After the wedding I was able to stay and visit with my parents in Atlanta for a couple of days, which is always a good time. Poor Jed was at home with a bad cold while I was enjoying Georgia - I guess that's what he gets for having that pesky job he has to go to.
